Hi, I’m Saralina Ekmirg (pen name), an autistic adult (Dx: F84.0) and a licensed social worker. I’ve always been fascinated by how people think, communicate, and make sense of the world—especially when those perspectives don’t quite match up. Being autistic means I experience the world differently, and being a social worker means I’ve spent a lot of time understanding how those differences play out in real life.
Sometimes, I feel like autism is a funhouse mirror. It distorts how people perceive what is being done. An autistic person may be acting with clear intent, but because the world operates on a different reality, that action is stretched, reshaped, and made into something it isn’t. I want to change that.
I am a proud autistic person who would not trade my autism to be neurotypical, but I understand why others would. Knowledge is power, and so is acceptance. My goal is to help people—autistic and neurotypical alike—better understand themselves and each other.
When I am not writing or working, I am definitely spending time with my family.
Much love to you,
Saralina
